In fall 2011, the SRT8 version of the 300 will return as a 2012 model. Previously based on the first-generation car, the new SRT8 shares the new platform and overall appearance. It sits a half-inch lower than the regular 300, and it has bumper and side sill extensions.
The standard wheels are 20-inch alloys, with black-chrome versions optional. A new 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 generates 465 horsepower and 465 pounds-feet of torque, compared with 425 hp and 420 pounds-feet in the 2010 version's 6.1-liter.

Chrysler says it does zero to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds, and highway mileage improves 25 percent. The five-speed automatic transmission adds steering-wheel shift paddles. Performance brakes, adaptive shock absorbers, large tailpipes and interior upgrades are also included.
